Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio: The Autumn Lantern at Lanruo Temple
An autumn lantern that should not be lit has appeared at Lanruo Temple tonight; Nie Xiaoqian knows it is not meant to guide the living.
Autumn wind enters the temple, and suddenly an old-style palace lantern ignites behind the broken window paper. Ning Caichen assumes someone is seeking lodging, but Nie Xiaoqian recognizes it as a guiding lantern once used to recall fleeing souls. It seems the old contract of the tree demon clan has been unearthed, and the lantern's shadow falls not on the grave soil, but on a living path leading out of the temple toward the county. Nie Xiaoqian must decide whether to lead people out of the temple or first investigate who is using the old lantern to weave a new net.
