Opening
Carriage lights flicker on and off; passengers check each other's names in a daze. The demon energy you smell is not outside the window but in the ink of the tickets — on your stub, the destination has faded into a grey blur. The next whistle presses in from the tunnel mouth; urgent scratching breaks from Nezuko's box; an old man in the front seat grasps a stranger child's hand and calls out a different name.
